I went to the first show (11am) to get out of the heat, and I chose this film specifically because my colleague across the aisle had indicated no interest in it whatsoever. Having heard nothing but bad things, I went in anticipating no thrills other than air conditioning and popcorn. As often seems to be the case, however, in such situations, I ended up enjoying the film. I suppose what follows is kind of a spoiler, so be forewarned. In one of the scenes where Diaz is drugged, the action and escapes are seen only through her bleary, semi-conscious point of view, which I thought was interesting. Also, some of it is funny. In short, if you go to this on a Tuesday when it's 100 degrees by 11 in the morning, you might be entertained. - T

Terrible. Terrible terrible terrible. One of the greatest battles in recorded history has been made into one of the worst films of all time. I actively disliked it from start to finish. And I WANTED to like it. I love the story and I'm all about the Classics right now.... but it was not to be. If I could unwatch this I would, and then I could just go back to thinking that it probably couldn't be that bad. - T

Every second of this movie is terrible. Even guest appearances by the Emperor, Gollum, and Abraham Lincoln couldn't save it. - A

This was not at all good, but I still enjoy seeing Bob Newhart and Jane Curtin, so it wasn't a total washout. Riker's directing is much like his acting was, stiff. The lead is likable enough, but I doubt we'll be putting any more from this series on the queue. - T

A few funny bits floating in backwash. - A

Uncomfortable and unpleasant. - T

I liked it, quite a bit, but why, oh why, can't movie makers learn not to spoil the endings? **Spoiler Alert** Maybe someone out there can explain to me why Jenny wants to repudiate her hard-won education, especially when things turned out rather well after all. - A.
