Really good. So perfectly clever and pointy. - A

Terrific! It just seems better and better the more I think back on it. Edward Albee sure was a sharp-witted guy. - T

Nueve Reinas (Nine Queens)

Kind of a tricky heist movie. It was fun to try to figure out the Spanish throughout movie, but I figured out the plot trick pretty early on. - A

I liked it all right, but I kind of think that it was more or less impossible to figure out for certain. I mean, you could guess, and it had to go one of two ways, but it just seemed to me that everything was decided in the last minute or two of the film. Write a different last two minutes, and you've got a different movie. - T

Good Night, and Good Luck

Surprisingly gripping. Well acted. A lot of smoking. - A

Here's another one that I was a little unwilling to see for some reason. I don't know, I just didn't see how it could be all that entertaining, but as Amy said, it was really almost a thriller. And I think that Clooney might actually have done a better job directing this one than Ang Lee did with Brokeback, but Oscar and I seldom agree, it seems. (Maybe it was just the print I saw, but I loved the sometimes lazy and sometimes very precise use of focus.) And while we're on the subject of the Golden Boy (Oscar, not Clooney) I feel I have to say that each of the four of the "Best Picture" nominees that I saw this year was about 100 times better than "A Beautiful Mind." - T

Great story and pretty good execution. Overall, very entertaining. - A

Get me, I'm giving out wings! I liked it! I had very little desire to see this film, but it won me over quickly. It really is a great story, and who better to play the lead than Christ himself? (Jim Caviezel stars.) - T

I didn't think I wanted to see this movie, but it turned out to be great. Funny, clever, and unusual: three characteristics I like in a movie. Go see it. -A

Thoroughly enjoyable. Unpredictable, well-acted, and again, thoroughly enjoyable. - T

A Beautiful Mind

I didn't enjoy this film. Maybe because I couldn't follow the math, but maybe because it was stupid. I can't believe it won best picture. It was too much of the wrong stuff, and not enough of the interesting stuff. Not to give anything away, but I think this movie's tagline should have been "I see fake people" rather than "He saw the world in a way no one could have imagined." I do have to say, though, that Russell Crowe did a good job creating and maintaining his character. - A

I hated this movie. I would rather have read a book about John Nash, and those of you who know me will know that that's saying something. Ron Howard is still living in Mayberry. - T
